One Monthly Goal :: July 2018 Update

My July One Monthly Goal was to finish a quilt I started four years ago as a new quilter. All I had was yardage and this one block

I made the block after making my first maple leaf quilt for a friend's baby.

The colors were inspired by my husband's citizenship quilt

The Dutch Canuck quilt is for the best man at our wedding, Joel, and his family. They live in Canada, but also share Niels' Dutch ancestry. Earlier this summer, they asked if they could come for a visit. We love hosting guests so we enthusiastically said, "yes!" Then I got to work.

When they arrived at our house after a long day of driving, the quilt was on their bed.

For the back, I used fabric from Niels' quilt to make a Dutch side.

It was a fun quick quilt to make. And eventually, I will make a full separate post about it!
