Generation Ex is an e-book!

I'm having a bit of a roller coaster day today. As I got in my car to drive my son to preschool this morning, I realized that my purse was stolen. I probably wouldn't have even noticed if the thief hadn't left the strap. So, instead of spending time with the lovely ladies of my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, I got to cancel my debit card and hang out with the local police officers instead. It could have been much worse. I travel very light, so my thief is surely disappointed that all he (she?) got was my license, one debit card, and three insurance cards. No cash. Nothing fun.

On the plus side, my first book is officially on Amazon as of this morning. You may recall a few weeks ago that I wrote an epilogue to my now-nine-years-old book, Generation Ex: Adult Children of Divorce and the Healing of Our Pain where I made the connection between the longing for home I wrote about in my book with the contentment and fulfillment I'm finding today in our de Jong Dream House.

Warning: Obligatory self-promotion ahead.

When my book came out, the promotional tagline was "everyone knows someone who can benefit from this one book." There aren't a lot of people who have not been affected by divorce, whether watching their parents divorce, their own marriage crumble, or have friends and/or family members who have weathered the experience of divorce. My book is honest about the long-term effects of divorce, but more importantly, shares what individuals can do to lessen those effects. While I wrote with the "kids" in mind: adults who may have adjusted well to their parents' divorce, until they realized how ill-equipped they were to form their own healthy romantic relationships; I have been humbled by the divorced parents who have written to me to thank me for approaching this topic with compassion and an extended hand toward peace and forgiveness. If you know someone who could benefit from this one book, I'd sure love for you to download the new e-book. Thanks!

End of obligatory self-promotion.

Carry on.

  1. You are certainly entitled to some obligatory self-promotion! You've worked hard to get here, and if you don't get the word out about your book, then what was it all for? Congratulations on reaching this new milestone, Jen. I'll be sure to share this book with others who would benefit from it.

And I'm so sorry to hear about the purse stealing incident. Sounds like you didn't lose much but your time...and the purse itself. Maybe you can make it an opportunity to go out and buy a new bag this weekend.

Sending hugs and cheers for your exciting accomplishment!

  2. Thanks, Lauren! I just realized that the original print version came out exactly 9 years tomorrow.

About the purse, it was a $5 wallet that I bought at the dollar store about a week ago. I'm not so heartbroken about it, but I am very happy that I travel light!
